Through the Eyes of Someone Else

She’s Finally Beautiful

She was rejected before she was born,
Brought into this world only to find that her father was gone,
Not deceased but nonetheless her heart was torn,
From such a young age emotional struggle she was shown,

She struggled with her self esteem and her image of self,
I mean what would you expect when her father put her on the shelf,
Her mother tried to be there for her and do anything to help,
But not even her mother could fill the void that she always felt,

So she subconsciously looked for a father figure in any man around her,
She would often stick with a guy even though he was wrong for her,
And getting her to trust you would be like trying to count each and every star,
Granted her insecurities in herself made sure none of her relationships went very far,

She is extremely beautiful, talented and smart,
But none of that could take away the hurt,
Even though she managed to be successful in her craft,
She only felt like she was floating through life like a raft,

I wrote this in hopes that she would learn to appreciate,
We do not choose where we are born and in what state,
That, in that regard, only our maker may decide our fate,
And that we can find peace in life because it’s never too late,

I would like to tell her that she should learn to forgive her father because he is just a human being,
She should learn to love herself because she is worth more than any other person’s approval if she is only keen,
Keen enough to see that her value goes beyond looks, beyond smart of books but in herself-she is wonderful,
I can’t wait for the day that she sees herself the way  I see her such that she can say she’s finally beautiful.

Misunderstood Girl

I can see her walking towards me,
The brown hue of her eyes is all that I can see,
She gives me a smirk gesture as if she can tell how she’s killing me,
When we hug it lingers a bit longer, I can tell that she’s feeling me,

She has a very beautiful voice,
But she doesn’t talk much,
She carries herself with so much calm and poise,
You couldn’t tell that her thoughts rush,

We sit down and her tone is rather enchanting,
Each word steadily getting my heart pumping,
Her charm is slowly winning me over,
Damn! The slit in her dress, I’m losing my composure,

The theme of our conversation went a bit personal,
I got inquisitive of where she got all of that soul,
She grew up in a home she never really considered her own,
Dad, is this really all the love you could have shown?

She ended up having a strong resentment towards her father,
Constantly competing for his love with her stepmother,
The lack of warmth made her heart become colder,
She doesn’t open up much, the walls she built could only make her feel stronger,

Now all she wants to do is to get away,
Start her own life and make a better day,
She needs a bit more power, cause now she feels trapped,
Take it one step at a time and find a platform to showcase her art.

Broken Smile

She’s the type to never feel alone,
Even when no one texts her phone,
She doesn’t take L’s she always won,
He never appreciated her till she was gone,

She’s got to be strong for the week,
Momma didn’t raise her weak
She’s grown now at her peak,
Still wasn’t ready for her parent’s split,

Nothing was ever going to be the same,
Her personal thoughts lingered on “what a shame”,
Sometimes it’s hard to accept the change,
Being in a situation that’s nothing but strange,

Diamonds are created in heat and pressure,
She’s hot and she’s going through pressure,
That means she’s a gem, a wonderful creature,
You’ll get through this cause life is but a teacher.

Blank Space

She used to smile all that’s left is a blank face,
She used to have a heart but now it’s a blank space,
She’d pretty much do anything to fill up her bank space,
Then spend it all on a high to forget it like backspace.

She’s a victim of trauma,
Should have listened to mama,
Partying till sun up,
Though she’s a fast learner.

But she wasn’t ready for what transpired,
Imagine pain worse than walking through fire,
Innocence denied she couldn’t do much but cry yah,
Why does she have to face the consequences so dire?

Behind her flawless face and glorious grin,
You can’t imagine the pain she carries within,
Her beautiful eyes too much they have seen,
Often wonders without this how life would have been.

Cut the story short,
She got raped,
She struggled and fought,
But it was too late.

She used to smile all that’s left is a blank face,
She used to have a heart but now it’s a blank space,
She’d pretty much do anything to fill up her bank space,
Then spend it all on a high to forget it like backspace.
